How payroll hours are converted
Payroll systems often use decimal hours rather than hours-and-minutes notation. Each day's minutes are divided by 60 and added to the whole hours.
Decimal payroll hours = hours + (minutes ÷ 60)
Example
8 hours 15 minutes equals 8.25 payroll hours. 7 hours 45 minutes equals 7.75 payroll hours.

Regular hours are multiplied by the regular hourly rate. Overtime hours use the regular rate multiplied by your chosen overtime multiplier.
